Northern Ireland Community Health Competition

Heath and the Community Youth Competition

Do you care about the health of your community? Do you have a project or an idea to get people living healthier? Tell us about your idea and you can win cash to help make your project a success!

The competition is designed to promote health in the community at a grass roots level. Your application must address the theme of health in the community and you must show how your project raises awareness of how to live more healthily in your area. For example: you could start up a new sports club for teens to increase physical fitness in your area; or run a campaign to increase the awareness of the consequences of substance abuse or even develop a pod cast to address health issues important to you!

• Opening date – 5 December 2011

• Closing date – 23 January 2012

• Short listing announced – 3 February 2012

(provisionally shortlisted applicants will be contacted between 23 Jan and 3 Feb to provide further information via an informal telephone interview)

• Winners announced – 28 February 2012

Basic Criteria

This competition is open to individuals aged between 11 and 21 only. Clubs and organisations cannot apply; however, applications from individuals within a club/organisation setting are welcome to apply, providing the project is run separately from the club/organisation.

Funds will only cover project costs and not direct salaries.

Application Surgery

An open surgery to answer queries on proposed projects and the application process is available on 9th January and 16th January from 9am until 11.30am (via phone – call Ashley Whittley on 07545933823).
